Takeshi & Akemi Lake Bled Wedding in Slovenia

This vibrant and fun-loving couple journeyed from Japan to beautiful Lake Bled, Slovenia, for an intimate and elegant elopement.

The historic Vila Bled provided a stunning backdrop for the bride and groom’s preparations, with breathtaking views of the crystal-clear Alpine lake mirroring the azure sky. These two were so stylish and full of joy, their wedding attire turning heads wherever they went throughout the day.

Once they were ready, it was time for the grand descent down the Vila Bled’s historic steps. A few photos even capture the summer sun’s golden flare around them.

Their first stop was Bled Castle, perched high above the lake with its commanding views. The castle offered incredible photo and video opportunities. They even had their names written traditionally and enjoyed a bottle of wine specially made for them. Coming from Japan, these Slovenian touches were a delightful surprise, and they proudly showed off their personalized gifts.

Then, it was time to say “I do!” at the charming church, followed by the official ceremony at the town hall. The summer heat was intense, so we took our time, making sure Takeshi & Akemi stayed comfortable. Thankfully, the photos only capture the beautiful moments, not the heat! From playful jumps in front of the heart of Bled to a romantic horse-drawn carriage ride, every moment was picture-perfect.

What truly made this wedding so unique were the incredible locations — the 12th-century Bled Castle, the iconic 99 steps leading up to the Assumption of Mary Church — and, of course, the magical golden light that bathed the couple as they prepared to leave the historic island on a traditional “pletna” boat. The bride, Takeshi, even took a turn rowing her husband across the lake for a few moments of quiet intimacy (and a truly fantastic photo!).

Takeshi & Akemi love being photographed, and their stylish outfits made them the center of attention throughout this incredible summer day in Slovenia. As a photographer, I love working with couples like them, whose love for life and each other shines so brightly.
